Project FIAS (Fostering Inclusive Action Sports) Community Building
CAN YOU HELP?
We are gathering resources, projects and ideas to be part of the FIAS Community Building Toolkit. This is part of our broader programme of work supporting inclusive mountain biking culture, focusing on gender equality. We are looking for contributions to any area of the toolkit. There are four parts:
1. Setting up a women+ mountain bike group: laying strong foundations for an inclusive, welcoming and thriving community of women+ mountain bikers
Guidance on where to start with setting up a women+’s community in action sports.
Help, ideas and resources for planning effectively and establishing shared goals and values for the group
2. Recruiting and diversifying: knowing who you’d like to connect with and how to reach them
Guidance on how to tailor marketing and communications to engage with diverse groups
Guidance on how to promote your group.
3. Getting the vibe right on every ride: ensuring a positive experience for all group members
Ideas on how to ensure all participants feel welcome and have an exceptional experience on every ride
Guidance on fostering a sense of belonging to a community
Guidance on fostering a group vibe where emotion, openness and vulnerability are welcomed and celebrated among participants.
4. Retaining and sustaining: developing the group by investing in volunteers
Guidance on how to support the growth, development and sustainability of women+ mtb communities
Ideas and mechanisms that can foster the development of grassroots volunteers and future leaders.
